Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Welcome to our Chrysalis Counseling FAQ page. Here you’ll find answers to common questions about our Bible-based counseling services, how we work, and how you can begin your journey toward hope and healing in Christ.
General Questions
1. What is Christian counseling?
Christian counseling combines professional psychological care with the truth of God’s Word. At Chrysalis Counseling, our professional psychologists and trained Christian counselors provide compassionate and confidential care while also drawing on Biblical principles, prayer, and Christ-centered wisdom.
2. How is Christian counseling different from regular therapy?
While both provide professional mental health support, Christian counseling goes further by integrating Biblical truth and faith in Christ into the counseling process. We believe true healing comes not only from emotional and cognitive renewal, but also from spiritual transformation.
3. Who can receive counseling at Chrysalis Counseling?
We provide counseling for children, teens, young adults, married couples, adults, and elders. Whether you are facing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, or relationship struggles, our counselors walk alongside you with age-appropriate and Christ-centered care.
4. Do I need to be a Christian to receive counseling?
No. Our services are open to anyone seeking professional counseling. While our approach is Bible-based, we welcome individuals from all faith backgrounds (or none) and will always provide compassionate, professional, and respectful care.
5. What kind of issues can counseling help with?
We help individuals work through a wide range of challenges, including:
- Anxiety, stress, and worry
- Depression and hopelessness
- Grief and loss
- Trauma and abuse recovery
- Identity and self-worth struggles
- Relationship and marriage issues
- Anger and emotional regulation
- Spiritual struggles and questions of faith
Counseling Sessions
6. Do you offer both in-person and online counseling?
Yes. We offer in-person sessions at our counseling center, and online counseling sessions for English-speaking clients worldwide. This makes professional Christian counseling accessible no matter where you live.
7. How long is a counseling session?
A typical session lasts 50–60 minutes. Depending on your needs, your counselor may recommend weekly or bi-weekly sessions for a season of time.
8. How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies from person to person. Some may benefit from short-term counseling (4–6 sessions), while others may need longer-term support. You and your counselor will work together to determine the best plan for you.
9. Are counseling sessions confidential?
Yes. Your privacy is very important to us. All sessions are treated with strict confidentiality, in line with professional ethical standards. Exceptions may apply only in situations where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, as required by law.
10. Can I choose my counselor?
We will do our best to match you with a counselor who fits your needs. If you feel a different counselor may serve you better, we are happy to make adjustments.
Practical & Spiritual Concerns
11. How do I know if I should seek counseling?
If you are struggling with overwhelming stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, anger, relationship challenges, or spiritual struggles—and feel stuck or unable to cope on your own—counseling can provide support, perspective, and practical tools to help you heal and move forward.
12. Will my counselor pray with me or use the Bible in sessions?
Yes, if you are comfortable with it. Our approach integrates Biblical encouragement, prayer, and professional counseling tools. Some clients prefer more emphasis on Scripture, others on clinical strategies—we tailor the process to your needs.
13. Is online counseling effective?
Yes. Many of our clients find online counseling to be just as effective as in-person sessions. It also makes counseling more accessible and convenient, especially for those living outside our city or country.
14. Do you provide crisis or emergency support?
Chrysalis Counseling does not provide 24/7 crisis intervention. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency or are in immediate danger, please call your local emergency number or go to the nearest hospital.
15. How do I get started with counseling?
Getting started is simple:
- Contact us through our Contact Page.
- We’ll connect you with one of our counselors.
- Schedule your first in-person or online session at a time that works for you.
